For this project, I redesigned the cover of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar. The album’s themes of generational trauma and materialism resonated with me, inspiring my design. At a tour stop, I saw a t-shirt featuring a gun encircled by a crown of thorns—symbolizing the struggle between gang violence and personal growth. I highlighted this imagery in my cover, emphasizing Kendrick’s message of imperfection versus Christ’s example. I also created a halo and wings icon, formed by dots representing generational trauma, with the wings doubling as two letter M’s for Mr. Morale.
